Which hosting provider do you use in Singapore?

Jun 27th, 2015

Below is a common question from best web hosting:

Yea so I was wondering which hosting providers others use to compare. I was looking for ideas on what to pick. If you can tell me why you chose your host that would be great also. My web design agency in Singapore recommends a host which costs over $40/month.

Here is my requirements to give an idea what I want:
I want one with MySQL support PHP5 and myphpadmin. I will be running a forum on it. I don’t want unlimited bandwidth since its a relatively new board, so I don’t expect much traffic at first. But I do want it to be up 24/7, and have no server problems like some other ones have. I’m okay with paying money for a good host, so money is not an issue (unless I have to pay for more then 40 bucks then it is). I have seen that there are some that are less then $20, so my assumption must be good.

Based on your question, we understand you are looking for answers for three important questions:

  1. If you should trust your web design agency’s recommendation
  2. Suggestion for a cheap but reliable hosting service
  3. Suggestion for hosting plan that is expandable in the future

What Your Web Design Agency Does Not Want You to Know

A lot of web hosting companies, both local and international, are available at reasonable price. There is not need to pay $40 to get the same service you can get for $10.

Even if you are living in Singapore, you do not need to have your host to be located next door (or locally). Local hosting bills are higher for many reasons.

Yet, with a lot to choose from, it’s hard to decide which one to sign up with. Furthermore, most of business owners opted for the cheapest option, without checking their web hosting requirements which consequently results in problems along the way.

How You Can Save More Than 50% What You Are Paying Now for Web Hosting

When it comes to web hosting, it doesn’t matter wherever you are. What is important is where your target audience are located. If your audience are mostly from the Europe for example, you should have a hosting located there. If your website has visitors mainly from your area, then it may be a good idea to have a host inside or near your country.

In fact, a lot of customers sign up with international web hosting companies as their reputation is outstanding. Many international web hosts have good server uptime, and cheaper price compared to local providers. In addition, you need to match up your website requirements in selecting your web host. Cheaper price alone won’t guarantee your hosting experience. You need to review their web hosting features, and check out some reviews and comments. See if it meet up your web hosting requirements.

Well, it depends on how much you want to spend.

    1. The cheapest option I know is:
http://www.hosttell.com/one They are one of the leading European web hosting companies, currently hosting over 500 000 websites. They have plans starting from $3.75/month. Every plan includes Photo Gallery, WebEditor (so you can build a website without knowledge of HTML), Google Adwords coupon (so you can advertise your website on google for free) and a lot more. Check them out.

    2. Godaddy has a couple of nice plans:

    3. For $5.78/month I recommend Dreamhost http://www.dreamhost.com/hosting.html

Their standard price is $119.40/year ($9.95/month if you pay yearly) but they currently have a promotion. You can use the promo code PLUS at sign up page and get the $50 discount + 2 Free domain names. This way you get them for $69.40/year ($5.78/month). You can use their huge Disk Space and host unlimited number of sites on a single plan.

Disk space: Unlimited + 50GB backup space
    Bandwidth: Unlimited
    2 Free domain names
    Price: $5.78/month ($69.40/year)

    4. If you’re willing to pay $20+/monthly for hosting I recommend:

On the cheap side I’ve used GoDaddy with reasonable success and WebHost4Life.com also with success.

I’ve heard good things about BlueHost.

There are an infinite number of Web hosting companies. You pretty much have to pick one and go with it. It’s not like there’s one really good one everyone uses. We all use different ones.

I personally use IXWEBHOSTING.com for all my stuff.
Some of our clients are using GODADDY.com with little to no issues.
Other clients of ours use 1AND1.com, with some issues, but nothing to get to upset about (takes too long for typically fast processes [creating databases, changing dns settings, etc]).

I would strongly suggest using 1&1 Internet – http://starturl.com/1and1 . They have been in business for over 15 years and is the world’s largest web host. Plans start from $3.99 a month and up (I would go with Business Plan). If you want reliable and quick customer service, it is a great choice. They do have a more stringent credit checking procedure, but they also have more quality customers. I have two hosting accounts with them.
