What To Do To Create Your Own Wiki Easily

Sep 6th, 2015

A common query:

I need to start my own WIKI website. I need to get a domain name too.

Answer: Warning! Using unreliable cheap hosting can leave you devastated and your hard work may be gone in seconds. Web hosting is one of the most important part of your business and can mean the life or death to your business.

Creating your own wiki website is as easy as 1-2-3. All you need to do is find a perfect webhost with one-click installer(Softaculous, Fantastico, QuickInstall) and install a wiki software like MediaWiki, DokuWiki, or PmWiki. The automatic installer can be found in your cPanel.

This one-click installer like Softaculous, Fantastico, and QuickInstall can be found in your cPanel. You need to specify the software you want to install, fill up some details and specify the domain or subdomain you want to use before hitting the ‘Install Now’ button. Your Wiki site is ready when you receive a successful installation notice.

An excellent hosting should have:

  1. free domain name,
  2. gives multiple add-on domains,
  3. has easy-to-use Site Builder,
  4. has Softaculous, Fantastico and QuickInstall to quickly install apps like MediaWiki, DokuWiki, or PmWiki

According to a web hosting comparison site, InMotion Hosting (IMH) came out to be the best option as it has auto-installer and free domain name. InMotion Hosting scored better in almost all areas, based on the research carried out by webhostcomparison.org. InMotion is also rated highly by BBB. What we like most about InMotion is the 90-day money back guarantee. By giving such an extra long guarantee not given by any other website provider, it just shows how confident they are that you will like their service.

This IMH review was also impressed with customer satisfaction record of InMotion Hosting. So, now that you have the answer, you just have to try InMotion Hosting for yourself and start hosting for only $5.95 $6.95 per month.

Tip: Although most web hosting plans come with free domain name registration, we still recommend that you register your important domain name(s) separately at one of the domain registration services. This can avoid complication when you need to move hosting.

Well don’t trust Wikia.com you might as well edit Wikipedia’s articles.
You can download MediaWiki software for PHP5 server hosts (MySQL) or you can host it yourself using LAMP, Abyss Web Server or IIS.
If you don’t want to host it yourself (seen as you need to keep your server (computer) your hosting the website on whilst it is being served to people).
Try this website for PHP5 hosting:
    http://lhosting.info/
    It is easy-peasy.
Trust me when I started I wasn’t an IT professional, I didn’t host myself, I hosted on other sites, like bravehost.com and freehostia.com and it isn’t as confusing as it seems, its quite basic, developers have made extremely easy tools, even a 5-year old could use! So I started hosting on IIS7.
I run Windows Vista Ultimate on a 1 Terabyte bandwith per day, with only 100MBPS! Then it goes through a 54MBPS router so it may seem slow but it serves alot of traffic.
    Thanks for reading anyway.
